Shipping Policy

HQST Solar offers free shipping for select products on domestic orders made within the contiguous 48 states. For some reason,orders require approximately 2-3 business days to process and 3-5 business days to reach their destination. Expedited shipping is also available, however, not all products are eligible for it. Upon shipment, a tracking number will be provided for you.

Shipping is possible for orders to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, however, there are surcharges involved. Similarly, we are able to ship internationally as well depending on the location. For more accurate cost estimates and to determine if shipping is available in your area, please contact us at sales@myhqsolar.com.

Please note, we are unable able to deliver products or expedite orders for PO Box addresses. We also cannot reroute a shipment after it has left our warehouse. Confirm the shipping address clearly before placing an order, if the replacement is caused by the wrong shipping address, please pay the replacement shipping cost.

Return Policy

If you decide to return your purchase, HQST Solar will allow for a refund for new, undamaged, and unmodified products within 30 days of receiving the order. Returns submitted for a refund may be subject to shipping costs.

HQST Solar will pay for shipping in the following situations: carrier damage, a defective product, a product does not match advertising, receiving an incorrect product, or a product was an extra item that was not ordered. For any other reasons, customers are responsible for shipping fees.

Replacement Policy

If there is any issue with your product(s), please contact us at sales@myhqsolar.com.

A representative will assist you in troubleshooting your product(s) and if any damage occurred due to the manufacturing or our shipping process, you will be eligible for a refund or replacement. In the event a replacement is necessary, we will arrange for return shipping of the old part. Once the part has been received and inspected, we will ship out the replacement. If damage occurs due to improper handling during the setup or installation whether done professionally or by the customer, then the product is no longer eligible for replacement or refund.

Any replacements due to shipping errors or damages in shipment will be sent out via standard shipping. Replacement parts cannot be expedited.

1. What is the ground type of this charge controllers?

Negative ground controller. A negative-ground controller is more common and can fit most vehicle systems. When in use, you can connect a cable to the negative terminal of any device in the wiring system.

2. Will this work with sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries and lithium batteries?

Yes, it works. This solar charge controller supports LiFePO4, Gel, Flooded, AGM, and SLA (Sealed Lead-Acid) batteries.

3. Can I use this with solar panel only? No battery backup?

No, you can't. The controller's purpose is to safely control the charging voltage and amperage delivered to the storage battery bank. The controller is powered by the battery, not the solar panel(s).

4.Why do I need a solar charge controller? What are PWM charge controllers?

A solar charge controller is a regulator for your solar battery that prevents it from overcharging. Batteries are rated for voltage capacity, and exceeding that voltage can lead to permanent battery damage and loss of functionality over time. Solar charge controllers act as a gate to your battery storage system, making sure damage doesn’t occur from overloading it.

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) Charge Controllers work by slowly reducing the amount of power going into your battery as it approaches capacity. When your battery is full, PWM controllers maintain a state of "trickle", which means they supply a tiny amount of power constantly to keep the battery topped off. PWM controllers are more suited for small DIY solar systems with a couple of low voltage panels and a small battery.

5. Will this charge controller work for a 36V lead acid battery bank or 48V lithium battery?

No, it only supports 12V and 24V batteries.

6. Does this 30A PWM charge controller have a built-in 30A fuse for the rated 30A load output?

No, it doesn't. We recommend adding an external fuse between the charge controller and battery bank for safe system operation. To determine the fuse size needed between the charge controller and battery bank, you can match the amperage rating on the charge controller. For instance, if you're going to install this 30A charge controller, we recommend using a 30A fuse.

7. How many watts can this 30 Amp charge controller handle?

The maximum input solar power for a 12V battery system is 450W while for a 24V system it's 900W.

8. When does the USB port have power? Only when the solar panel is outputting power or will it pull power from the battery?

The USB port pull power from the battery.
